The devs simply failed making enough items for their system which has too many damage types anyway. Fun fact: legendaries drop more often than those rares if you go to the right spot. Rare drops with the right random enchants are almost always better then legendaries. The 5th will either be a perfect fit, if you have one of the advertised cookie cutter builds that the devs made a perfect set of items for (for example lightning melee or flame ranged), or it will be no significant upgrade over some older item. In most cases, out of 10 high end weapons of the right type, 9 will dramatically decrease your damage output, despite having good stats. It's not that just a few stats don't fit.
You still don't get it, so you probably didn't play the game to that point. That's just the tip of the iceberg too, I've thought up like 6+ different builds that I've wanted to play that just don't have any meaningful support what so ever. A tier 1 + 2 devotion and next to no support outside of the Demo class. Want to be a non spellcasting Lightning + Aether user? Then you have a grand total of 0 skills to pick from.Įven something as common as Fire + Chaos has very little support. Turns out the classes themselves have an amazing ONE skill between all of them that has a tiny bit of lightning and aether damage combined. There's like, what? 3 devotions with this combination, so I figured I'd give it a try. Every build I think "Hmm, this sounds cool, let's go on Grimcalc and see if it wor-" Oh look at that, no it doesn't, be it due to lack of devotion support for said build or lack of support from the classes themselves.ĭon't believe me? Let's check out some of the builds I wanted to build a moment ago but realized that I can't without severely gimping myself due to lack of support. I have never felt so fucking limited and pigeonholed into a few builds in an ARPG as I have with this game.
